The difference between Confucianism and Christianity

The difference between Confucianism and Christianity

Christianity: God's Word (Bible) and Jesus Christ himself. Man has original sin, is inherently corrupt, and needs redemption. Repent and trust in Jesus, and be changed by God.

Confucianism: Man's rationality, conscience, and ritual and music system, namely the teachings of Confucius and Mencius. Man's nature is good (Mencius) and can be taught (Confucius). Self-cultivation, family management, state governance, and world peace rely on self-cultivation.

Christianity: God's law and grace, rely on Jesus' cross salvation. Rites, righteousness, benevolence, and filial piety, rely on learning and practice, rely on hard work.

Confucianism: Rely on Christ to forgive sins and be saved, faith rather than merit.

Confucianism believes that man's moral conscience is given by God. But it does not delve into whether this God has a personality.

Confucianism emphasizes introspection and whether there is a violation of conscience. But it does not delve into where conscience comes from.

The Bible says that "God's law is written on the heart" (Romans 2:15), and people's conscience is disturbed because of sin.

(I will write about Islam, Buddhism, Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, and atheism another day.)
