The Current State of American Christianity

Many American Christians do not participate in elections and do not care about politics. I think this is a deviation. Of course, among them are my very good brothers and sisters.

Analysis of several situations:

First, "Both parties are corrupt, it is better not to participate", which may be reasonable, but it should not become the norm;

Second, "We only preach the gospel and do not touch politics", which separates faith from life;

Third, "This world is ruled by the devil, voting is useless", which denies the reality of Christ's rule;

Fourth, "God is in power, we do not intervene", which is a misunderstanding of "God is in power";

Fifth, "Everything is predetermined, I don't need to do anything", which is even more wrong. God's predestination is secret, we do not know it, it belongs to God himself, and cannot be our excuse. But God's command is obvious, we must do it, and the obvious things belong to us.

We Christians are not "escaping from the world", but "renewing the world", which of course includes public life and political responsibilities.

Voting, participating in politics, and establishing a just social system are not "secular things", but actions of obedience to the sovereignty of Christ.

All areas of authority belong to Christ, including government, elections, and legislation; families, churches, and governments each have their own responsibilities, but they all have obligations before God; believers' behavior in the public sphere is an extension of faith, not a separation; the results of policies will affect neighbors, and Christians should vote with a heart of "loving others as yourself." Voting is not an additional obligation of faith, but a natural behavior of being responsible for your neighbors before God.

If you can use one vote to oppose the abortion bill, but choose "spiritual neutrality", you are a "doer of good deeds";

If you can elect a leader who is more just or closer to biblical values, but "for the sake of spiritual untaintedness", you are actually giving up the right to govern and handing it over to "thorns to rule."

Proverbs 8:15: "I rule the country through kings, and through kings I establish justice."

"If Christians do not vote and do not participate in politics, then those who make laws, enforce laws, teach children, and manage the media in society are all people who resist the gospel - this is not Puritanism, but abstentionism."

Not participating is giving up witnessing.
