Preface
神创造人，不是为了懒惰，而是为了荣耀祂。
God did not create mankind for laziness, but to glorify Him.
工作的意义，不只是为了赚钱。
The purpose of work is not simply to earn money.
家庭责任，也不仅仅是养家糊口。
Family responsibility is not only about providing food and money.
改革宗神学认为：
Reformed theology teaches that:
工作是神创造秩序的一部分。
Work is part of God's created order.
家庭是神所设立的第一个社会制度。
The family is the first institution established by God.
人在工作中荣耀神。
People glorify God through their work.
人在家庭中服侍神。
People serve God in their family.
人的职业可以不同，
People may have different occupations,
但所有蒙召的人，
but all who are called by God,
都是神国度里的工人。
are workers in God's kingdom.
因此，
Therefore,
工作的意义，
the meaning of work,
远远超过薪水。
is far greater than a paycheck.
家庭责任，
Family responsibility,
也远远超过生活费用。
is far greater than paying the bills.
真正的问题不是：
The real question is not:
"我赚多少钱？"
"How much money do I make?"
而是：
Instead:
"我是否忠心完成神交托我的责任？"
"Am I faithfully fulfilling the responsibility God has given me?"
第一章
Chapter One
神首先是一位工作的神
God Is First a Working God
这是整本圣经工作的起点。
This is the starting point of work in the whole Bible.
工作的起源不是人。
Work did not begin with man.
工作的起源乃是神。
Work began with God.
因此，
Therefore,
工作本身不是咒诅。
Work itself is not a curse.
罪才是咒诅。
Sin is the curse.
圣经第一页，
On the very first page of the Bible,
我们就看见神在工作。
we see God working.
创世记 1:1-5（和合本）
起初，神创造天地。
地是空虚混沌，渊面黑暗；神的灵运行在水面上。
神说：“要有光”，就有了光。
神看光是好的，就把光暗分开了。
神称光为昼，称暗为夜。有晚上，有早晨，这是头一日。
Genesis 1:1–5 (NCV)
In the beginning God created the sky and the earth.
The earth was empty and had no form.
Darkness covered the ocean,
and God's Spirit was moving over the water.
Then God said,
"Let there be light,"
and light appeared.
God saw that the light was good.
He separated the light from the darkness.
God named the light "day"
and the darkness "night."
There was evening,
and there was morning.
This was the first day.
改革宗解释
Reformed Explanation
圣经首先向我们介绍的，不是一位静止的神。
The Bible first introduces God not as inactive,
而是一位工作的神。
but as a God who works.
神创造。
God creates.
神安排。
God orders.
神分别。
God separates.
神命名。
God names.
神祝福。
God blesses.
整个创造周，
Throughout the creation week,
神不断工作。
God continues working.
因此，
Therefore,
工作不是因为亚当犯罪以后才出现。
Work did not begin after Adam sinned.
工作早在世界没有罪以前，
Work already existed before sin entered the world,
就已经存在。
before the Fall.
改革宗一直强调：
Reformed theology has always emphasized:
劳动属于创造。
Work belongs to creation.
不是属于堕落。
It does not belong to the Fall.
罪使工作变得痛苦。
Sin made work painful.
但没有使工作变坏。
But it did not make work evil.
《威斯敏斯特信仰告白》第四章 第一条
Westminster Confession of Faith
> 三位一体的神，为彰显祂永恒的能力、智慧和良善，在起初从无中创造世界及其中万有，并且都甚好。
> It pleased God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, for the manifestation of His eternal power, wisdom, and goodness, in the beginning, to create all things out of nothing, and all very good.
改革宗认为，
Reformed theology teaches,
既然神创造的一切都甚好，
since everything God created was very good,
那么工作本身也是好的。
work itself is also good.
提摩太·凯勒《工作的意义》
Timothy Keller — *Every Good Endeavor*
凯勒指出：
Keller writes:
"工作不是犯罪之后才出现的。"
"Work was not invented after the Fall."
"神自己首先工作。"
"God Himself is the first worker."
"因此工作本身具有尊严。"
"Therefore work has dignity."
改革宗认为，
Reformed theology agrees,
所有合法职业，
every lawful occupation,
只要符合神的话语，
as long as it is consistent with God's Word,
都是神圣的呼召。
is a holy calling.
无论是：
Whether someone is
木匠，
a carpenter,
程序员，
a programmer,
司机，
a driver,
清洁工，
a cleaner,
老师，
a teacher,
护士，
a nurse,
家庭主妇，
a homemaker,
还是牧师，
or a pastor,
都可以荣耀神。
all can glorify God.
今日应用
Application
今天很多人认为：
Today many people think,
工作只是赚钱。
Work is only about making money.
所以，
Therefore,
一旦钱够了，
once they have enough money,
便停止努力。
they stop working hard.
另一些人认为，
Others think,
工作只是为了成功。
work is only for success.
因此，
Therefore,
他们愿意牺牲家庭、
they are willing to sacrifice family,
健康、
health,
敬拜，
worship,
甚至信仰。
and even faith.
圣经却告诉我们：
But the Bible teaches us:
工作的真正目的，
the true purpose of work,
首先是荣耀神。
is first to glorify God.
其次，
Second,
服侍别人。
to serve others.
最后，
Finally,
供应自己的家庭。
to provide for one's family.
赚钱只是结果，
Making money is only a result,
不是工作的最高目的。
not the highest purpose of work.

亲爱的天父，
Dear Heavenly Father,
感谢祢是一位工作的神。
Thank You for being a God who works.
感谢祢按着祢的形象创造我们，
Thank You for creating us in Your image,
使我们也能工作、管理并服侍。
so that we may work, steward, and serve.
求祢帮助我们不把工作当作偶像，
Help us not to make work an idol,
也不把懒惰当作安逸。
and not to treat laziness as comfort.
愿我们每天忠心完成祢托付给我们的责任，
May we faithfully fulfill the responsibilities You have entrusted to us each day,
借着我们的工作荣耀祢，
bringing glory to You through our work,
也祝福我们的家庭和他人。
and blessing our families and others.
