The Westminster Confession, Chapter 23, teaches that God appoints civil magistrates for His own glory and for the public good. Christians may lawfully hold public office, should pray for rulers, honor lawful authority, and obey them insofar as such obedience does not require disobedience to God.

改革宗认为，基督徒可以参与投票，也可以关心公共事务，但必须以圣经为最高标准，而不是以政党、意识形态或个人利益为最高标准。面对并不完美的候选人，我们不是寻找一位"救世主"，因为只有基督才是救主；我们是在有限的现实中，凭着祷告、智慧和良心，寻求更符合圣经公义、真理与爱邻舍原则的选择。

同时，我们绝不能把政治变成偶像，也不能把福音降格为一种政治运动。教会最核心的使命始终是敬拜神、传扬福音、造就门徒，而每一位基督徒则在自己的岗位上忠心作盐作光。
