24) / Reformed Theology Studies (Archive 24)

2026-02-22

It does not mean

that we change God's time.

Instead,

God has ordained

not only the result,

but also the means

to reach that result.

例如:

For example,

God has ordained

that all nations

will hear the gospel.

所以,

Therefore,

the church

works hard

to preach the gospel.

Not because

God does not know the future.

But because

神决定

God has decided

to accomplish His purpose

through His church.

Fourth Scripture

English (NCV)

The Good News

about God's kingdom

will be preached

in all the world,

to every nation.

Then the end will come.

Explanation

English (ESL):

This verse teaches

that God has decided

the gospel

will be preached

to all nations.

Then

the end will come.

When Christians preach,

they are not changing God's plan.

They are carrying out

God's plan.

God Ordains Both the End and the Means

This is one of the most important teachings

of Reformed theology.

例如:

For example,

God has ordained

some people

will be saved.

同时,

At the same time,

God has also ordained

through the preaching

of the gospel,

they will be saved.

Fifth Scripture

Romans 10:13–15

English (NCV)

Everyone

who calls on the Lord

will be saved.

But before people

can ask the Lord for help,

they must believe in Him.

Before they can believe,

they must hear about Him.

Before they can hear,

someone must tell them.

And before anyone can go,

someone must send them.

Explanation

English (ESL):

Can God

save people directly?

Yes.

But

God chooses

to use His church

to preach the gospel.

Preaching

is God's appointed way.

The Westminster Confession

English:

The Westminster Confession of Faith, Chapter 3, teaches that God not only chose His people for salvation from eternity, but also ordained all the means by which they would come to salvation.

This is why Reformed Christians often say:

>
> God ordains not only the end, but also the means.
