You are the salt of the earth.
But if the salt loses its salty taste,
there is no way to make it salty again.
It is no good.
It is thrown out
and people walk on it.
You are the light of the world.
A city that is built on a hill
cannot be hidden.
People do not hide a lamp under a bowl.
They put it on a lampstand.
Then the light shines
for everyone in the house.
In the same way,
let your light shine before people.
Then they will see the good things you do
and will praise your Father in heaven.
